Our team
We are an international team, passionate about scuba diving, and we love to share this passion with our clients. Many of our non-diving staff are certified divers and go diving in their free time.
Pioneers of Cozumel Direct
Back in 1997, Tank-Ha became the first dive shop to operate a direct trip straight to the world-famous reefs in the Cozumel Marine Park using a boat called Xaman-Ha. Since then, thousands of divers have appreciated the convenience of this service, saving the time and hassle of the public ferry.
By using the direct service we can maintain our high standards because we send our instructors with you to Cozumel, rather than relying on a third-party shop in Cozumel to provide the service. That also means if you are learning with us (for example the Advanced Open Water course), our instructors can accompany you on dives in Cozumel to seamlessly continue your course.
In 2015 we introduced La Bestia, a new boat built to meet increased demand for the Direct-to-Cozumel service.
Since 2016, both Xaman-Ha and La Bestia have been sold by Tank-Ha but continue to operate a comfortable service which we use daily.
What does Tank-Ha mean?
You’ll see “Ha” mentioned a lot in the area. “Ha” is Mayan for “water” — that was easy. We took a little poetic license on the other word: “Taam” is Mayan for “deep”, but we went with “Tank”, which feels more relevant to us as divers. If you squint your ears, “Tank-Ha” almost sounds like “deep water” in Mayan.
High quality equipment
Our commitment to quality doesn’t end with our instructors. We invest in providing and maintaining scuba equipment from premium brands.
Our Apeks regulators use the DIN connection (popular with technical divers) for increased reliability, and some have integrated Suunto dive computers.
Our Cressi and Beauchat masks cover different face shapes and sizes. These masks use premium silicone that is soft and molds well to your face.
Our Zeagle BCDs and Zeagle BCDs come in sizes from XS to 3XL. Our Cressi BCDs also have integrated weights and cover sizes from 2XS through S.
Our Cressi wetsuits are 2.5 mm thick and cover sizes XS to 3XL. We offer full and short suits, and thicker (5 mm) Cressi wetsuits that are ideal for cooler water in the cenotes.
